Known by her stage name "Shonnie" Murrell  born  as, LaShonda Antrionette Harris on July 19th in Jonesboro, Louisiana and raised in Houston, TX. She has been singing and playing instruments since the age of 3.

 

She is an alumnus of Sharpstown High School in which she was the first African American Homecoming Queen, China exchange student, Drum -major, Drum- Captain, Varsity Softball and Basketball all four years, and she was the Talent show winner from her freshman to senior year of high school.

 

From Sharpstown Shonnie received a full music scholarship at Grambling State University and obtain her degree in Business Management. Shonnie is also a former member of Grambling State World Famed Tiger Marching band where she played percussion. She also held one of the highest positions in the band as the "Master Drill Sgt." and was one of the main characters of the BET series "Season of the Tiger". In which she was a GUEST on 106th Park and the BET AWARDS.

 

Murrell loves to perform with her live band and she will most definitely give a show!!!
People say that she has a story to tell and she reminds them of Sheila E. because she will sing and play her drums  at the same time and she is a mixture of Erykah Badu and Missy E. She has opened up for the following major artist: LIL WAYNE, RICK ROSS, BOBBY VALENTINO, LETOYA LUCKETT, LIL KEKE, DJ JUBILEE, YOUNG DRO, YOUNG JOC ETC...

 

Recently, Shonnie Murrell has been the main host for Music World I.C.E. Artist Showcase under the direction of Matthew Knowles. She was the special guest performer for the 10th Annual Sisters Empowering Sisters inc. in Syracuse, New York, Host for Houstons 97.9 The Box as well as Magic 102.1 Teen Summit, and she was the featured percussionist for the following legendary artist Miki Howard, Al Jarreau, Tom Browne and Marion Meadows at the Red Cat Jazz Festival in Galveston, Tx.
